Feel better and make reading easier with “Vision therapy” after whiplash injury and concussion (1a,1b)

What are the symptoms of vision problems?

The symptoms of vision problems are tired eyes, dizziness and headaches. Almost everyone with a chronic case of mild traumatic neck/brain injury has vision problems.

Many people have difficulty reading, and screen work especially is tiring. Over doing it must be avoided and time must be set aside to rest the eyes. Many people forget this when they return to work after sick leave, often full-time from the beginning. If you get headaches, nausea and dizziness from reading, and can only concentrate for a short time; you should get a function test of your vision done.

What is binocular vision   – and why is it important?

The term “binocular vision” deals with the fact that humans have two forward-looking eyes which must work so well together that we get the experience of seeing with a mid-set eye (cyclops-vision). In binocular vision problems, the eyes do not follow each other towards the same point. This may be the underlying cause of symptoms after neck-brain injuries.

How is vision, especially binocular vision, tested?

The test must include at least:

  • Mapping of symptoms, visual aids (glasses) , general health
  • Depth perception and eye motor skills: movement, hidden squint (strabismus), etc.
  • Spectacle strength
  • Testing the ability to focus
  • Ability to see under stress
  • How long your eyes can work in an open space (what provokes it?)
  • Known WHO disorders in vision must be revealed
