Marianne Sandberg: I do it out of gratitude, curiosity, and a desire to help<\/h3><\/h2><\/div>

In a family with a member suffering from a concussion back in 2007, it meant there was no assistance available, even though we could afford it ourselves.<\/p>\n

WE JUST WOULDN’T GIVE UP. The initial challenge was that the injuries were invisible on CT and MRI scans, and treatment plans were not offered. It couldn’t be true!<\/p>\n

Fortunately, I am a biotech engineer with a background in many medical disciplines at the university and have conducted research on gut bacteria. I had previously read scientific research articles, so why not delve into neuroscience?<\/p>\n

I sought foreign knowledge on concussions, delving down to the cellular level. Simultaneously, I traveled the world to meet the doctors behind the scientific articles. They had done the groundwork. Especially those pioneering new scanning and treatment methods that made sense in light of the many articles I had read.<\/p>\n

One clinic had researched the rehabilitation of brain-injured American NFL football players. Finally, we obtained a scan and, post-scanning, a personally tailored treatment with documented effectiveness. The intensive reconstructive treatment helped in just six months, supplemented by additional treatments from other clinics.<\/p>\n

Our family’s case ended well. Still, I have never lost the frustration that not everyone is as fortunate as us. Therefore, I now enjoy helping clients at REbrain Clinic alongside doctors from around the world.<\/p>\n

\"Marianne<\/p>\n

Pointing towards treatment requires a broad scien<\/strong>tific overview.<\/strong> To understand the scientific connections and help people recover, I founded the non-profit scientific organization WHIPCON in 2014, receiving advice from a globally leading neuroscience researcher. It makes me proud. We also received funding and other help from patient organizations.<\/p>\n

WHIPCON advocated for new individualized treatment of brain-neck injuries using artificial intelligence in neuroscience.<\/p>\n

Bringing Medical Doctors into the Picture<\/strong>
\nOne thing is theoretical connections; another is to “bring the clinic with us, meaning the actual diagnosis and treatment from the doctors.” This direction was suggested by a senior physician at Rigshospitalet, encouraging me to pursue it, so my work could potentially contribute to practical clinical research collaborations. As a starting point, REbrain Clinic will document the share of people returning to work after long-term sick leave.<\/p>\n

Collaboration with Leading Private Clinics in our Network<\/strong>
\nIn April 2020, REbrain Clinic ApS opened its doors to provide advice and create international programs for people experiencing issues due to concussions. The major challenge is that only a few percent of the population can afford to privately pay hundreds of thousands to doctors once they have become chronically ill. The overall budget is only known once the injuries are identified through scanning.<\/p>\n

At the end of 2023, REbrain Clinic celebrates having successfully reintegrated the first five resigned long-term sick individuals into jobs through our international EXTRA STEPS program. Additionally, we have assisted many with ‘not so severe problems’ through our other brain optimization program, BRAIN HEALTH BASIC.<\/p>\n

We never guarantee, but we provide hope and significant expertise supported by skilled doctors. We aim to prove that it is possible to recover with a comprehensive individual approach. For now, on an international scale.<\/p>\n
